    The Blue Ear visits Marvel

    February 28, 2013 | 12:07 PM | By trades_department | In General

    Hey Gang,

As a lifelong Marvel fan & as an employee, I have been able to spend my life living in a universe full of heroes. Well, on February 27, 2013 it all got even better when I finally got to meet Anthony Smith, the real life boy whose amazing story inspired me to create the original Blue Ear drawing.

On Feb. 26, Anthony was at the Center for Hearing and Communication in New York City along with his brother Dominic, his grandmother Patricia and his mother Christina for a huge event--the announcement of a partnership between Marvel and Phonak. The event celebrated the debut of an exclusive poster featuring Iron Man! As Marvel's very own Custom Solutions Editor, Bill Rosemann described it, "It was our honor to work with writer Christos Gage and artist Paco Medina to create this exciting and educational poster that we hope will help spread the word that everyone deserves to be treated with respect, and that we all have the capability to unleash the hero within."
But Anthony wasn't the only hero on hand. Iron Man himself was there and made Anthony the youngest honorary Avenger in history!

So imagine my surprise when I, the trusty 'ol TradesJanitor, was given the honor to give a private tour of the Marvel offices to the newest Avenger and his family! Everyone at Marvel was so excited to meet the real life Blue Ear! I was even able to introduce the newest Avenger to the people he'd be getting his missions from--Nick Fury's bosses, Tom Brevoort and Axel Alonso! Anthony & his family's visit brought a smile to everyone's faces & he took the office by storm! He even gave me some great tips on how to better fight off super villains using my broom!

Find out more about Anthony and the Blue Ear here.

And of course, what kind of Trades Blog would this be if I didn't mention all the great MARVEL TRADES available now!

    January 3, 2013 | 2:36 PM | By trades_department | In General

    Hey Gang,

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a great holiday season! I know I've been away for a while but that's because I've been traveling the world! I was in Hong Kong, China and Tokyo, Japan! And I was there trying to spread the news about how great Marvel Trades are! Then of course I went to say hi to the corporate bosses! And to get there, I rode on one of the coolest trains EVER! They had couches inside instead of seats! I wanted to move in!

And what kind of MARVEL TradesJanitor would I be if I went to Asia and didn't take a picture of Madripoor? And, yeah, that's all you're getting--just this one picture from far away! Who do I look like? Wolverine? I'm not going on that island without adamantium claws! That place is dangerous!!

    Hey Gang,

Sorry for not posting in a while but I'm sure as most of the world knows by now New York City was hit REALLY hard by hurricane Sandy.

    HISTORY LESSON

    October 8, 2012 | 12:18 PM | By trades_department | In General

    Hey Gang,

HAPPY COLUMBUS DAY! Sure, Everyone knows that today in America we celebrate Chirstopher Columbus sailing the ocean blue in 1492! And we all know that he had three ships: The Nina, The Pinta and The Santa Maria.

BUT what the history books DON'T tell you is there was another ship! The Excelsior! And that one was captained by Sir Stan of Lee and The Jack of Kirby (who was later crowned a KING!) Unlike Columbus' ships that came here to bring stuff back to the old country, Lee and Kirby's came to BRING stuff to the new world. The brought stories of great heroes on THE printed page! Stories that inspired hope and greatness to the youth and adults of the New World! And unlike Columbus day where we only celebrate once a year. We honor Lee and Kirby EVERY WEDNESDAY when new comics are on sale!

So do your part for history and celebrate with these featured MARVEL TRADES:
