Prepare yourselves. Cosplay & costuming has arrived on Marvel.com.
For over 20 years, Marvel fans have united at conventions and events by dressing as their favorite Marvel characters. Sewing and wood-working tools aren't always required, I assure you.
Check back here for your daily dose of cosplay (cosplay is a play-on-words from the Japanese which means "costume play") and costuming in all its forms. From the store-bought costume to a hand-crafted Iron Man suit, I'll bring you the best, the cutest and the most colorful costumes around.
For a quick bio: I started cosplaying in 2004, and have been documenting cosplayers at anime and comic conventions for over five years. In 2006, I started working at Marvel as an intern for Marvel.com. I proceeded to stick around till they hired me full time, and here I am. Along the way, I became Marvel.com's official photographer, and will have the honor of documenting San Diego Comic-Con this upcoming weekend for the site.
If you're planning to attend SDCC this upcoming weekend, work these two events into your schedules:
Marvel Cosplay Photo Op
Friday, July 23: 1:00 – 1:30 p.m.
-Stop by the Marvel booth in a Marvel costume, have your photo taken on the booth stage and appear on Marvel.com.
Marvel Costume Contest
Saturday, July 24th: 5:30 – 6:30pm
-Compete in the annual Marvel costume contest with the chance to win great prizes!
Both events will happen at the Marvel booth #2329
Also, all contestants and costumers will be asked to sign a model release to appear on marvel.com.
Hoping to see you all there! Now to San Diego!
