Happy October!
This past weekend was the 5th Annual New York Comic Con, which for the first time, was combined with New York Anime Festival. Marvel.com was there, reporting from our numerous panels, events & the Marvel.com Live booth. From opening to close, there was constant coverage, and that includes cosplay & costuming.
In keeping up a tradition, we organized two cosplay/costuming events at the Marvel booth: the Cosplay Photo Op and the Marvel Costuming Contest. Each event was a tremendous hit, with over 100 cosplayers participating, not to mentions the hundreds, if not thousands, of Marvel costumes that walked the con floor.
We here at Marvel were in awe of so many pheoneminal costumes, including the Steampunk Iron Man, that won the Marvel Costume Contest.
After the contest, Matt of Penny Dreadul Productions was gratious enough to allow me the chance to grab some shots of his amazing costume. Here are a few from the photo shoot:

I would say that Matt in his Steampunk Iron Man was the hit of the weekend.

On Saturday as the con was getting into full swing, about 30 Marvel cosplayers stopped by the booth for a chance to jump onto our stage for yours truly to grab photos of their costumes. Here are a few photos I grabbed:

Plus, two amazing cosplayers, Marie-Claude Bourbannis & Riki of Himearts not only stopped by the Marvel photo op, they also took time to talk with us in the Marvel.com live video booth, plus posing for a few photos.

Next up was the Marvel Costume Contest. With each year we hold the contest, more and more amazing costumers turn out for their chance at the coveted title. This year the big prize was a Captain America: Reborn Hardcover signed by Stan Lee. The line to sign up for the contest practically wrapped throughout the booth, and final count was just over 70 costumers. One group in particular, was 23 X-Men characters, which included Ice Man, Professor X, Emma Frost, Storm, Colossus and many more! When I was chatting with them before the contest, I was informed they're all either friends or family based out of Brooklyn. Now those are some true Marvel fans!
As I mentioned earlier, Steampunk Iron Man came in first, with Pixie in 2nd, Carnage in 3rd. Plus, for the first time, the judges & MC Jesse Falcon decided to award Volstagg a True Marvel Fan Costumer Award.

Here are more of the costumers!

It was an amazing turnout! For all the contestants please check out our complete New York Comic Con gallery on Marvel.com!

We would want to thank all the costumers & cosplayers who turned out the Marvel events, plus for continuing to bring Marvel characters to life!
