    Chapter 7

The next morning, I was taking a walk in the back garden maze by myself. I just wanted some time to allow myself to think. I kicked the grass in frustration. Daken and I had never gotten on well with each other since we first met and I highly doubted that we were ever going to but I was determined to end this “sibling rivalry” between us.

I was so deep in thought that I had wondered into the middle of the maze without even realising it…and I also hadn’t realised who else was there.

‘Are you sure you’re not a telepath Kayleigh?’

I jumped back into reality with a start. Daken was sitting looking smug at me on one of the four benches that were around the middle.

‘Why are you here Daken?’ I asked him, folding my arms.

‘Probably the same as you Kayleigh; taking some chill-out time.’

‘I meant in Howlett Mansion’ I growled.

    Daken chuckled.

‘Well, let’s just say I came for a visit that’s all sis. Mind you I should come here more often.’

I glared at him. Daken was trying to dare me to cause trouble I could tell.

    ‘Who sent you here Daken?’

‘Haven’t I just told you Kayleigh?’

‘Not in a straight answer you haven’t.’

‘An old childhood friend of yours.’

I was taken aback. Daken chuckled again.

‘Actually, he wanted me to test my abilities. I had only finished my training when I first met you in Japan several years ago. He wanted me to test my abilities on something so he let me go’ Daken explained.

    ‘Who?’

‘I thought due to your reaction Kayleigh you knew. I guess you don’t know everything.’

That was it. I made a grab at Daken and had him by the scruff of his neck.

    ‘WHO?!’ I shouted angrily.

    ‘Sorry; I’m not singing.’

With that he threw me off him into the hedge.

    Chapter 8

Daken was looking for me. I was trying to get around what he said. An old childhood friend? I had hardly any friends as a kid. Sean Cassidy I had known since I had been at school as well as Deadpool and Erik. Two lady-friends from my childhood were long gone. There wasn’t anyone left that I could think of. Except maybe…

Oh no I thought, troubled, but that can’t be right. He died. He had been trying to ask me out for a while but I had refused and said that we were only friends. Not only that, I had only managed to accept his date offer just before he left-

I was suddenly yanked out the hedge which broke my train of thought.

‘You shouldn’t smell as if you were afraid Kayleigh. That’s what gave you away in the first place’ said Daken, holding me by the scruff of my neck now.

‘Let me go Daken; I’m not afraid.’

    ‘It didn’t smell like it.’

He would’ve finished me off there but I gave Daken a magnetic zap that sent him to the floor. I shot up into the air and flew as high and fast I could back to Howlett Mansion so that I could warn father…and also so that I could make a phone call.

    Chapter 5

I told Erik what had happened when he came back from town.

‘I’ve not seen them for hours Erik’ I finished.

‘Maybe he’s just giving Daken a good long lecture about you Kayleigh. I don’t think Daken knows much about you, considering that every time you two meet up it always ends up in a fight.’

    I nodded sadly.

‘I wish it wouldn’t end up like that though Erik. I’ve always wanted siblings for years. You know that better than anyone. Remember when we were kids? I always envied you and your sister. Aunt Lydia treated me like the daughter she always wanted.’

By now, a lump was forming in my throat. At that point father re-entered the sitting-room with Daken. Erik looked up at them.

‘We’ve managed to settle it Erik. Whilst I’m here with Kayleigh, Daken will be on his best behaviour. Won’t you?’ father asked Daken, giving him a look.

    ‘...Yes father.’

‘I hope so’ father growled, ‘Kayleigh has been through a lot in her life without you adding to her long list.’

    Daken snorted and said nothing.

‘I just hope we can all get along with each other for a week without anything else like this happening again’ father finished with a sigh.

    Chapter 6

I was pacing up and down mine and Erik’s room that night. Erik was in bed reading. He sighed heavily when I had just wondered in front of his vision yet again.

‘Kayleigh; please stop this restless pacing. I can’t concentrate’ Erik sighed.

‘I can’t help it Erik!’ I snapped, rounding on him, ‘I can’t believe that after all his worrying father was alright in letting Daken in like that!’

We were silent for a little while. I sighed heavily and sat at the ending of the bed.

‘Logan will keep an eye on him Kayleigh. Stop worrying.’

Erik did have a point there but I was still unconvinced.

‘Maybe Logan was on to something this morning. Such as having you and Daken trying to get along with each other. If so, well, I can understand his way of thinking.’

I was silent for a minute before replying.

‘Fine then. If Daken makes one move against me within the week, I’m going to live with the X-Men until he leaves Howlett Mansion. Right now, I need some sleep.’

    Chapter 3

I had spent an uneasy, sleepless night that night so it was little wonder to Erik the next morning that he found me in the kitchen already awake before him.

‘How long have you been up Kayleigh?’ he asked the moment he saw me sitting at the table.

    ‘Hours’ I grumbled.

    Erik sighed heavily.

‘It’s Daken isn’t it?’ Erik asked, sitting down next to me.

I nodded in responce. Erik was silent for a moment before replying.

‘Remember what you said yesterday afternoon Kayleigh? About being an X-Man? You don’t need to worry as long as you think like that. Also, you’ve got me and Logan here to look after you and we won’t let Daken near you whilst we stand.’

I gave Erik a little smile.

‘Thank you Erik. Thank you’ I said, giving him a hug.

    Chapter 4

Erik had gone down town to get some food and father was somewhere in the mansion later on that morning. I had decided to catch up on some lost sleep in the sitting-room. I was curled up on the sofa, my cat-like tail dangling and my cat-like ears twitching every now and again at the slightest noise. So far, there was nothing for my animal senses to report…or was there?

A new but familiar scent drifted in through Howlett Mansion’s front door and into the sitting-room where I lay asleep. My cat-like ears and tail twitched but I didn’t stir. A shadow drifted over me but I still slept on. Then my animal instincts kicked in and, before the intruder could make any sudden moves against me, my eyes snapped open and I whipped around, giving him a magnetic zap as I did so. I was rewarded with a shout.

It all happened in two seconds and I thanked my feline abilities for it. I looked to see who it was that had woken me up by stepping foot inside Howlett Mansion…and I wasn’t surprised when I recognised him.

‘You should know better than to sneak up on me like that Daken’ I growled.

‘I thought you were sleep?’ he said, trying to get up but he was too stunned.

    I snorted.

‘I woke up the moment I recognised your scent so I just played along.’

Daken wasn’t a happy bunny with me for wrecking his plan I could tell. I gave him a little smile. At that moment, father had burst in.

    ‘What happened? I heard something-’

‘It’s alright father; I was just giving Daken a little welcome gift that was all’ I growled at him, keeping my eyes on Daken as I did so.

Father noticed the damage to the paintwork on the wall. He sighed heavily and shook his head, giving Daken a disapproving look as he did so.

‘You know; I just had Howlett Mansion fixed up recently due to the Mutant Registration Department nearly destroying it to pieces. You coming in and starting a fight Daken doesn’t help either. I’m going to have to ask you to come with me.’

Daken looked from father to me and from me to father. I glared at Daken. He sighed heavily and walked with father out the sitting-room door.

    Brother, My Brother

    Chapter 1

Theresa and Sean Cassidy stayed at Howlett Mansion for a couple of days before heading back to Ireland. Ok I know it was originally meant to be only Theresa staying for a couple of days or so but after the Skrull attack on Howlett Mansion, Sean decided to stay as well...just in case. It looked like it was the same with father since he had also decided to stay but he was staying longer.

‘Why though?’ I asked him after Sean and Theresa left.

Father and I decided to sit outside for a bit since it was sunny again.

‘I need to check out something that’s all Kayleigh’ he replied.

    What?’

    Father smiled grimly.

‘What did curiosity do to the cat?’

    I glared at him.

‘You know I don’t like stuff being kept from me father.’

‘To be honest, I don’t know whether or not to keep you from it Kayleigh.’

I didn’t know whether or not to be surprised at this.

‘Depends on what it is father. I just wish you and Erik wouldn’t be so protective over me when something happens that concerns me.’

‘You’re my daughter. I’m meant to worry over you.’

‘What is it then?’ I asked again.

Father was about to reply when Erik came out the front door with a tray of ice cream for us.

‘Chocolate flavoured?’ I smiled at Erik, ‘aw, you shouldn’t have Erik.’

Erik chuckled as he sat down next to me.

    ‘Just as you requested Kayleigh.’

I took a couple of scoops into a bowl from the tray and purred happily.

‘Everything alright Logan? You look irritated. Have I done something I shouldn’t have done?’

‘Yes; I was about to tell Kayleigh that Daken is back again.’

I nearly choked on my ice cream.

    ‘Sorry’ father added.

    I was gaping at him.

‘Don’t look at me like that Kayleigh. Hopefully S.H.I.E.L.D will get him back in before he goes near you. That’s why I was here in the first place in case Daken came over.’

I didn’t know whether or not to be pleased with father being here.

‘Well, that explains a lot. Not that I’m grateful for you being here on my behalf father. I’m an X-Man; a superhero. I can look after myself perfectly fine.’

Despite the speech, I still a felt a bit nervous about what father had said about Daken. I might’ve spoken too soon.

    Chapter 2

Father had gone back inside during the afternoon because of the heat. I sat on the blanket we had laid out the back. Erik was next to me in a light sleep. If I liked deep water I could’ve gone to the swimming pool that was a couple of feet away but I didn’t. I still cringed when I looked at it, remembering how I almost drowned as a child.

I banished the memory from my mind and tried to focus on my current situation instead. Daken. We had first met in Japan when I had been against the Silver Samurai some years ago now. Unfortunately, despite my skill with the sword, Daken had remained unimpressed by me. I wished there was some way to mend whatever it was that was between us.

‘You alright Kayleigh?’ a sleepy voice sounded next to me.

I jumped slightly at Erik’s voice.

‘Sorry Erik. I guess my mind had just wondered.’

‘It’s what Logan said before isn’t it?’

I sighed sadly. Erik was a bit more awake now and sitting up.

‘I just want to know...what have I done to upset him? We never met until that day I fought the Silver Samurai yet Daken has hated me since.’

‘Maybe when you next see Daken you should ask him that Kayleigh. He might be able to tell you. People like him usually do eventually.’

    I nodded at Erik’s advice.

‘Either way, I just hope it doesn’t last Erik. I’d like to get through to Daken at some point. I don’t want to keep facing him every time he breaks out of jail.’

    Chapter 17

We had a late dinner in the back garden since it was warm and sunny.

‘Will they come here again mother? To Howlett Mansion that is?’ Theresa asked me.

‘I doubt it Theresa; this was just a one-off to annoy me. Vulcan is too occupied at the moment concentrate on me so I doubt that he’ll be bothering me again. Especially since he’s probably learned his lesson from the last time I dealt with him.

‘How Vulcan managed to get into Howlett Mansion is beyond me but the only way he could’ve sneaked in on his way to Asgard without me noticing is by hiding his trail when I wasn’t here. I would’ve been able to detect it with my magnetic powers if I’d realised someone had broken into my home but everything looked normal so there was no need for a magnetic scan of the place.’

I sighed heavily. It looked as if I’d have to be more vigilant from now on again, even though I knew that Vulcan wasn’t in a hurry to go near me again after the last time.

‘Anyway, just to change the subject, I thought you might like to know that I was planning on staying here for a bit Kayleigh’ said father.

    I looked at him, surprised.

‘Why?’ I asked, ‘not that I’m glad to have you here that is father.’

‘I’m aloud to see my daughter every now and again aren’t I?’ he replied with a little smile.

There was something that father wasn’t telling me I was sure. No, I could tell that there was something he wasn’t telling me but instead of asking further, I returned father’s smile and went back to my dinner. The moment quickly forgotten, even if I had felt uneasy for a second or two.

    Chapter 15

‘You sure you want to do this on your own Magneta?’ Siryn asked me.

We were standing outside the door to my next opponent. It was the master room of Howlett Mansion. I gave Siryn a little smile.

‘Don’t be silly Siryn. I need you to help me in this. I know the last Skrull said it was a test meant to be for me but even I can't do with your help Siryn.’

    She returned the smile.

‘Well, let’s not keep him waiting any longer then Magneta.’

I nodded...and flung the door open. A surprised yelp on the other side was my reward.

Siryn and I charged in, protected by my magnetic force field. I soon released it on “Magneto” and he went toppling.

    ‘Now Siryn! Now!’ I yelled.

Siryn let out a sonic scream. With our attacks, “Magneto” didn’t have any time to catch his breath or ready his own move. It was all too soon that Siryn’s scream had stunned him and I was able to magnetically keep “Magneto” to the ground with my own powers.

I stood over him, keeping “Magneto” under my magnetic powers.

‘That was a very stupid thing that; letting your boss to get you to shape-shift into my cousin’ I growled at him, ‘we know each other too well. Now, tell me who your boss is. Your predecessor is dead and the one before him is tied up and knocked out so you can’t call for help. You will answer my questions or you just might end up like your buddy before you.’

“Magneto” probably would’ve spoken next if laughter hadn’t sounded. I knew that laughter and I felt a slight fear in the pit of my stomach...which was smothered quickly because I was so mad.

That was impressive Magneta. Well done’ said Vulcan’s voice.

Siryn and I looked around to see where it was coming from but we couldn’t.

‘I notice that you’re probably wondering where I am Magneta’ Vulcan went on, ‘well, I’m not on Earth at the moment if that’s what you’re thinking.’

I was able to find out where the voice was coming from and I told Siryn; the mirror on the left side of mine and Erik’s bed.

    ‘Well done again Magneta.’

Siryn handed it over to me. It was a hidden camera. Why I hadn’t noticed it before was beyond me.

‘Listen Vulcan’ I said angrily, ‘if you’ve harmed one hair on Guinevere’s head-’

‘Relax; she’s fine. Asleep at the moment. I got her in Asgard.’

    I hoped Loki was alright.

‘I managed to sneak into Howlett Mansion on my way to Asgard’ he explained, ‘I’m surprised you didn’t pick up my trail-’

That was it. I crushed the mirror with my magnetic powers.

‘What now Magneta’ Siryn asked me, well aware that I wasn’t in a good mood right now.

‘We’ll see about our other “guest”. Right now, we need to find the real Magneto, Banshee and Wolverine.’

    Chapter 16

That was easy. The moment I sent out my magnetic pulse as a signal to Erik, he had immediately responded with a magnetic pulse of his own. They were down in the hidden ballroom. It was hard to tell out of Erik, Sean and father who I was more pleased to see. Probably everyone.

‘At least you lot weren’t harmed’ I said, after I had hugged the three of them, ‘so what happened to you guys?’

Erik told me about being surprised by “Banshee” and Sean told me about Erik’s Skrull catching him off guard. Father told me about his own one too. I shook my head after we had swapped stories.

‘And here I thought Vulcan said he was going to be a good boy from now on. I should’ve known that it was too good to last.’

‘Pity he’s out of my reach’ father growled.

‘I’m sure Guinevere and Loki can handle Vulcan once they catch him. They’ll never let him wonder loose around wherever he actually is...which obviously isn’t here’ I reassured him.

By now we had made our way out the ballroom and into the hall. It was now getting on to afternoon so, thanks to Vulcan, I hadn’t had my dinner yet. Neither had the others for that matter. However we still had to take care of our uninvited guests that were lying in various rooms.

‘Mother; there’s something you should see’ said Theresa as we made our way upstairs.

We hurried up them to the room where “Banshee” was. Or at least he was supposed to be since he was no longer there.

‘Ok, where did he go?’ I asked.

    Chapter 13

My next house “guest” was a few rooms away from my first. I was hoping that Siryn and I weren’t going to give him as much of a hard time like we had done with my other “guest”. It would’ve been easy, if my other “guest” hadn’t chosen the following disguise.

I had told Siryn to keep hold of the tape we had gathered from the previous room because it could come in handy. When we got to the next room, I was more prepared for an attack. My next attacker dived at me from the side and went bounding off my magnetic force field so fast that I hadn’t registered who he was disguised as.

My shocked reaction was understandable from my point of view. “Wolverine” got up, slightly stunned from my magnetic force field. Siryn came up behind me and I could feel her being equally shocked at what she saw.

‘This ain’t right Magneta’ she muttered.

I didn’t have time to respond when “Wolverine” lunged at me and we went hurtling out the door. Siryn had just managed to dodge us in time. “Wolverine” was about to finish me off when something grabbed his hand. He snarled when he saw Siryn.

‘Don’t even think about it “Wolverine” ’ she growled.

He shoved her off roughly which gave me time to give “Wolverine” a magnetic zap which pinned him to the floor.

‘That’s the weak thing about having a magnetic skeleton’ I said, walking towards him, ‘you’re prone to magnetic attacks like mine.’

He snarled but said nothing. I had been attacked by the real Wolverine once before but that was because he had been brainwashed at the time. It was an experience that I didn’t want a repeat of since it had frightened me a lot afterwards.

‘I’ll make it even worse for you’ I went on, ‘if you don’t tell me what’s going on. Now.’

    He chuckled.

‘This is a test by the boss’ he explained, ‘I’m sure that, judging by the last person you defeated Magneta you’ve figured out what sort of test it is? I thought so’ “Wolverine” said, noticing the grim look on my face.

I had figured it out when I realised “Wolverine” had attacked me. The moment I did, there was no need to guess who the last Skrull had disguised himself as. Someone had picked on my weak spot and I wanted to know who and why.

‘Keep singing’ I told the Skrull, ‘no holding back.’

‘Sorry lady but I ain’t going no further. As to why the boss wants you? Well, I’m sure he’ll tell you why...that’s if he’s planning on visiting but I doubt it since he’s occupied with other matters.’

    Siryn looked away next.

‘It was asking for it Siryn. Well, so much for that idea’ I sighed heavily, ‘he didn’t want to sing either.’

‘What did he mean when he said “test”?’

‘They want to know if I’d hesitate in attacking those that I love most if I had no choice’ I replied simply.

    ‘Magneto is next’ Siryn realised.

    I nodded grimly.

‘Well, the Skrull-Magneto that is’ I corrected her, ‘I don’t know why whoever came up with this dumb idea even thought it but I’d like to find out. I’m losing my patience with them so they’d better make an appearance.’

    Chapter 14

Not too far away- in the hidden ballroom to be exact- father, Erik and Sean were sitting in a triangle on the floor. Obviously none of them looked too happy to be there in the first place especially father. He always hated being caught off guard.

‘Do you think Kayleigh is back yet from X-training Erik?’ father asked him.

How would I know that?’ he asked back, equally annoyed at being caught off guard too.

    ‘Your magnetic powers-’

‘I know Logan!’ he snapped, getting up.

‘Hey, none of us want to be down here in case ye realised Erik’ said Sean, alarmed and trying to break-up a possible argument between them.

That calmed both men down a bit.

‘I’m surprised Kayleigh hasn’t found us yet’ said Erik after an uncomfortable silence, ‘then again, there’s only so much she can do at the same time whilst battling whoever it is that’s done this to us.’

‘She’ll be fine Erik. If Theresa is with her then I’m sure they can handle anything that gets in their way’ Sean reassured him.

Erik sighed heavily knowing that he had a point. He just hoped that I knew where they were.

    Chapter 11

We cautiously stepped into Howlett Mansion. I had put a magnetic force field around us just in case we were attacked the moment Siryn and I stepped foot through the door. Thankfully, nothing happened so I loosened the magnetic field and did yet another magnetic scan of Howlett Mansion.

The Skrulls were still in the same places as they had been when Siryn and I had circled from above. It was as if they were begging me to attack them.

‘Could be a trap Magneta’ Siryn warned, breaking my thoughts.

It was as if she’d just read my mind!

‘Let them try and trap me Siryn’ I snarled, ‘never try to trap a cat.’

Siryn sighed heavily and shook her head as she followed me up the grand staircase to the upper floors. I had become quite moody of late in such a short space of time.

I made my way up the grand staircase to a room that was a few feet away from the staircase.

‘Let me in first’ I growled.

I wrenched the door open angrily. Siryn flinched at my movement. She hoped that the Skrull at the other end knew what it was in for.

    Chapter 12

In fact, it should’ve been me that should’ve known what to expect. True I was expecting some form of attack but not the kind that I was given.

One punch from “Banshee” sent me to the ground.

‘Ye know’ “Banshee” said, ‘I’ll be the first to finish ye Magneta. I don’t know why the boss sent in three of us to play this silly game of his-’

“Banshee” never finished his sentence. Siryn hit him on the back with a bed-side lamp. “Banshee” was stunned for a few seconds before I was able to finish him off.

‘My father would be cringing if he saw this’ said Siryn, looking at the Skrull with disgust, ‘and I thought he was in Ireland?’

By now, I was tying “Banshee” up with tape I had found in one of the draws in the room and placing him in the corner. I also put some on his mouth.

‘He’ll be out for a while. So at least if “Banshee” wakes up, he won’t be looking for his friends. As for the real Banshee? I’ve no idea Siryn’ I answered, shaking my head, ‘I’m hoping that wherever he is, Erik will be with him.’

‘What do you think they want from us Magneta?’

‘I don’t know and since our “friend” is knocked out we can’t exactly ask him for answers.’

‘Well, he did say that there were three of them here. I’m sure one of them will sing for you.’

    I smiled.

    ‘Sounds like a plan Siryn.’

    Chapter 9

I was watching Siryn and Phoenix in the Danger Room from the control area with Storm.

‘You should give it a go Magneta’ Storm suggested, watching them.

‘With you Storm, yes I would but not with Siryn.’

‘Come on; please? I’ll buy you a pizza at dinner time.’

    ‘No thanks’ I answered regrettably.

I would’ve continued our conversation but something flashed through my mind right then. In fact, I felt it thanks to my magnetic powers. I paused. Storm, seeing the expression on my face watched me in silence.

‘Magneta?’ she asked quietly, unsure what was happening to me.

    ‘Quiet!’ I hissed at her.

I closed my eyes and there it was again; a magnetic pulse. I knew that pulse anywhere.

‘Siryn, Phoenix; your session has ended!’ I called into the microphone after I opened my eyes in worried realisation.

They looked up at us in confusion.

‘What’s wrong mother?’ Siryn asked me as they came through the door.

‘I got a magnetic pulse from Erik. He’s in trouble’ I replied.

I turned to Storm and Phoenix.

‘I apologise for this but we need to get back to Howlett Mansion as quickly as possible.’

‘Do you need the Blackbird?’ Phoenix asked me.

‘It’ll be quicker if Siryn and I made it ourselves but thanks for the offer Phoenix’ I answered her with a little smile.

    Chapter 10

Siryn and I were back at Howlett Mansion within the space of fifteen minutes the way we flew. As we approached, I did a magnetic scan around the area which would allow me to check what threats there were. I was dumbfounded; three people in three different rooms of the mansion. They didn’t look human either...and yet they had human senses around them. That could only mean one thing to me but I didn’t understand it at all.

‘Skrulls’ I muttered so quietly that Siryn looked at me, wondering if I had said anything.

‘Did you say something Magneta?’ she asked.

    ‘Skrulls’ I repeated, ‘shape-shifting aliens.’

‘Are you sure you’ve not been at the TV again?’ Siryn joked but judging by the stern look on my face, I wasn’t joking at all.

No Siryn!’ I snapped angrily at her, ‘you know as well as Erik that I don’t watch that sort of thing on TV!’

    ‘Ok, ok! Chill out!’

I growled quietly and looked back at the mansion as we hovered in the air.

‘I guess we’ve no choice but to go in through the front door.’

‘Could you move the mansion if you wanted to Magneta?’

    I smiled grimly.

‘I could if I wanted to but I don’t think father would be too thrilled with me if I did afterwards. As you probably know, Howlett Mansion has already been destroyed into nearly oblivion once and it was half done in quite recently. Oh and did I forget to mention Whip-Lash trashing the place a while back? Right now, all I need to worry about is how to keep Howlett Mansion standing.’

    ‘So, your next plan Magneta?’

I smiled. The way I did it, Siryn was glad that she wasn’t one of those Skrulls right now.

‘We go in through the door and take them on; one by one. Then I’m going to make them sing who is behind this whether they like it or not.’

    Chapter 7

The next morning saw me and Theresa heading of for another training session at the X-Men’s Mansion. Not that we needed to do it but I thought it was an opportunity to see how well Theresa had progressed.

‘Here I was hoping that I was at Howlett Mansion to relax for a few days mother’ she scowled at me as we walked towards the Danger Room control area.

‘I want to see how well you’ve progressed that’s all’ I smiled.

Storm was at the controls when we entered.

‘Magneta. Siryn’ she nodded, ‘I got your call this morning saying you’d be on your way here.’

‘I’ll do mine after Theresa if that’s fine Storm?’ I asked her.

‘I thought we were going in together?!’

‘Siryn; I’ve no chance with your sonic scream remember’ I argued, ‘you’re forgetting about my animal senses.’

    Siryn made a face.

‘You’ve a healing ability haven’t you mother?’ Siryn raised an eyebrow at me.

    I ignored the question.

‘So, who’s in already?’ I asked Storm.

    Phoenix.’

‘Well, let’s not waist anymore time standing here. In you go Siryn’ I said with a little smile.

    Chapter 8

Erik had hoped that I hadn’t noticed him scowl to himself on the way back to Howlett Mansion when we had picked Theresa up the previous day. That scowl had been because he had sensed something in the air around us and even more so when we got to Howlett Mansion.

...The magnetic field around Howlett Mansion has changed he thought to himself after me and Theresa had gone to do some X-Men training that morning, I don’t know if Kayleigh noticed it but it’s been like this since we got back from picking Theresa up yesterday. Then again, I’m sure Kayleigh would’ve told me if anything was wrong.

Erik walked around the mansion cautiously, trying to find the disturbance. That was when he sensed someone standing on top of the stairs when he came into the hallway.

‘Banshee? Aren’t you supposed to be in Ireland at the moment?’ Erik frowned.

A sly smile lit up on his face…and Erik knew that it wasn’t Sean Cassidy. Erik gave him a magnetic zap but missed “Banshee” by a few seconds. With one sonic scream the moment “Banshee” had leaped off, Erik was unconscious before he could figure out the reason for Banshee’s odd behaviour and why he wasn’t really Banshee at all.
