I can't help but shake my head at the current reboot of The Fantastic Four. The idea of Reed Richards putting hischildren at risk of Death, as an educational adventure in deep space is just ludicrous. Where does Marvel get some of these writers from? Its like the Saturday Morning Cartoon is the model for Some of these comic book titles these days. I wish Stan Lee would give a s&^t about his creation and come back and script it again for a year. If not Stan then maybe Marvel could get Roy Thomas or Gerry Conway to come back and take over the Fantastic Four. I am just about done with it. This once great comic has been getting the second rate treatment at marvel for a long time now. The Hickman run was good, but the good runs are few and far between. I find myself buying less and less comics anymore. Over at DC every damn title looks exactly the same. Hardly any variation in the art. Its a really low point in the history of Comic Books in my opinion. The Comic fans deserve better, especially at these outrageous prices of today. Capshield.
Amen my brother. I LOVE the FF but the "gee would'nt it be cool if..." writing has taken over most of the books in the glorious Marvel Universe. It was once all character driven writing that made sense. You are correct, it's not in Reed Richard's character to put his children at risk. Moreover, the Ultimateization of the Marvel universe has gone way too far. My FF collection starts in 1964 but Sue Storm's name has been Sue Richards for even longer than that. She's NOT Dr. Sue storm. Not in the 616 universe, anyway. Sue Richards has a much more important title and job description than that. She's a wife and mother and that's what lends her every-woman strength to the storylines of the past 50 years. As someone with a couple college degrees myself I find it fascinating that people are so impressed by someone having obtained one. While I salute Fraction's idea of getting back to the core essence of Marvel's First Family of exploration, his mischaracterization makes it just difficult for an old fan like me to read.

I don't mind this current storyline. The build up and suspense so far has got me curious. I just finished reading issue #4 and can't wait for the next one. Fantastic Four has been one of many titles I've enjoyed reading since the mid 70's but sadly I now only pick up 4 Marvel titles. I think comic books have become too expensive and in Australia you're paying an extra $2 per book and the quality of writing and art can be subpar. Hopefully the Fantastic Four will continue to impress young and older readers alike.

Franklin has the power to alter reality, while Val is a super-genius, possibly even as smart if not smarter than her father. I think that is the logic behind Reed's reasoning for bringing the kids along for the adventure. They're still kids at the end of the day, but more than capable to look after themselves if need be.
Pull list: Fantastic Four, FF, Guardians of the Galaxy, Morbius, Nova, Scarlet Spider, Thunderbolts, X-Factor
UK comics: Astonishing Spider-Man, Avengers Assemble, Essential X-Men, Wolverine & Deadpool

I'm digging it so far but kind of agree about bringing the kids along. Althought as intelligent as Richard Reed is he never seemed very smart when it comes to matters of raising a family. Sue seems like she is already onto him though. Nonetheless I've always thought of F4 as a family adventure of sorts so glad they are all together for the ride.
They're kid has the power to pull Galactus out of a pokeball what's not safe? The universe should be more afraid of them. Franklin is the next Jean/ Scarlet Witch waiting to happen.

I have mixed feelings about the kids, but on balance I favor them being around part-time anyway. However, it would nto be good for them to be involved in all adventures and battles.

Hi Ultramag. Glad you like the new reboot. I still think taking the children along is way out of character of Reed and Sue. Can you imagine if they were to be killed or taken by Aliens? How could they live with themselves. Maybe He feels that the danger is no more than back on earth, where they are the Targets of the FF' various enemies. To me, having the children involved in this comic is too much like a cartoon. There is not the feeling of seriousness in the adventures with the kiddies. Hickman was able to do some interesting things with the daughter making deels with a mentally depleted Dr Doom. That was interesting. Using the Child Prodigy theme to great effect. I guess I just am a traditionalist when it comes to the Fantastic Four. I know that things change over time, but in my opinion, many of the great potentials of this comics past are not used these days. The Thing, has not been portrayed very good at all. This really cool character is often just a bit player anymore. At least you care, which means a lot. Take care, Capshield.

I have to disagree with you. I love that the Fantastic Four are out explorin the unknown, it is exactly what this family was meant to do. I don't think Reed Richards means to put his family in danger. Instead he is trying to save them. I also don't like that he is being so secretive, but if there is no known cure why put them through the turmoil that news brings? Now, I don't know how he'll deal with them discovering the poroblem on their own, but we'll see if it even comes up. So far I am liking this stuff.
