Punisher MAX: Born and The Beginning

    Terror Inc: MAX

The Sentry 5-issue mini serie, from 2000 was pretty good.

Adam: Legend of the Blue Marvel is decent

If you like DC, I'd advise Secret Six, starting with the Villains United book.

pretty sure he's just looking for Origins.

also, Marvel released alot of Season One and Origins comics recently. i've got the X-men and Dr. Strange ones but i haven't read them so i can't reccomend them, but regardless they may be of interest to you.

What a joke. For the modern age of comics. Look at the new Marvel Now titles starting. Avengers has great potential by Hickman. Indestructible Hulk. Thor. New Avengers. Uncanny Avengers(although it looks average to me). Maybe Young Avengers. All New Xmen(meh). etc.

No mention of Captain America by Ed Brubaker. New Avengers vol 1 by Bendis.

Events or Crossovers like: House of M. Civil War. Annihilation. Annihilation:Conquest. Messiah Complex. Second Coming. Planet Hulk. World War Hulk.

Wolverine:Enemy of the State by Mark Millar. Astonishing Xmen by Whedon (only) 1-24 & Giant Size Xmen. X-Force by Kyle & Yost. Uncanny X-force by Remender (first 18 issues). X-factor.

Immortal Iron Fist. Daredevil by either Bendis or Brubaker.

Thor by JMS. Venom's current run, by Remender. Circle of Four= BADAZZ fun.

    Nova. Guardians of the Galaxy.

Young Avengers, the original series, 1-12. Great title. Well worth it.

Can't say much about New Mutants? I don't care for the series and the characters are boring.

you'll have to excuse my fellow posters.  they both tend to have sketchy taste in comics.

here's some more good origins though:

    -Shadowland: Powerman

    -New Mutants (2nd volume)

    -The Sentry (1st volume)

    -Red Skull

    -Young Avengers

Not really, it's just that I don't just swallow whatever it is Marvel decides to push, I have more quality control than that.

But I can second the second New Mutants volume pluss the Young Avengers.

    origins i'd reccomend:

    - Ultimate Spiderman (current volume with Miles Morales)

     - The Hood (original min-series)

     - X-23: Innocence Lost

    - Spider-Woman: Origin

    - Alias

    - Skaar: Son of Hulk

    - Amazing Fantasy (last volume)

    - White Tiger

    - Bullseye: Greatest Hits

    - X-men: Deadly Genesis

    - Wolverine Origins (the ongoing)

The only ones here I can second are X-23 and Son of Hulk. I deffinately would not recomend Deadly Genesis.

If you want to read origins for major characters, you will probably need to go digital. I can't list off any off the top of my head, but if you have anything specific in mind, I could easilly find the answers.

If you are just looking for a good place to jump in, the Marvel NOW initiative is providing a lot of new #1s, which should provide a good jumping point, although it isn't exactly a new start.

So basically, you want to recommend him EPIC FAILS?! These are the last pieces of crap for a new reader to read. Please, don't recommend anyone anything. You aren't helping. He should read far more valuable and important titles and series of the modern age. None of these are even relevant or good.
