I still am not entirely sure what the OP meant by ranking top 10 villains. Is it in terms of popularity and menace across marvel history, or purely just who each of us prefer as our top ten? The only poster who is strictly off the wagon here with his list is Monstarmaalik. That should come as no surprise! :)

In no order.
Loki
Dr. Doom
Thanos
Kang The Conqueror
Ultron
Magneto
Apocalypse
Annihilus
Red Skull
Kingpin
Good list except I don't see how Red Skull and Kingpin made it. Carnage was more of a threat to more characters than Kingpin. I would replace Red Skull with Magus also.
This thread doesnt seem to be about who made it.. Its more about who the typical classic supervillains are. I guess Mandarin, Galactus, Mephisto and Dormmamu could fit in this list aswell.

@ Valeria vs. Doom - i dunno about that. i picked up a FF issue back during Heroic Age (was that it?) and it seemed like Valeria was using Doom as a pawn. maybe i'm wrong though, cant say for sure since i only read that single issue.
Yea, she was kind of using Doom, but it wasn't like Doom was just completely oblivious to this, he made an agreement with her as an attempt to restore his damaged brain, and for better or worse, he saw that agreement through. Also, you have to realize that Valeria had some information about the future that allowed her to play the manipulator there, without that, she probably wouldn't have been nearly as effective.

Mangog and Surtur are almost exclusively Asgard villains.

@ Doom's status - ok then, fair enough. @ Valeria vs. Doom - i dunno about that. i picked up a FF issue back during Heroic Age (was that it?) and it seemed like Valeria was using Doom as a pawn. maybe i'm wrong though, cant say for sure since i only read that single issue. @ Villains never get ongoings - good villains do: Mystique, Daken, Hiro-kalla, Dark Avengers, Deadpool (not really a villain anymore though) and Secret Six all had ongoings. good ones too. @ Dooms accomplishments - you don't have to sell me on why you like Doom. i personally dont like him that much but i can understand his appeal to some extent. my post was in response to you calling Mystique "b list" which isn't true at all. @ Mary Jane, Gwen Stacy, Psylocke, Wanda and Wasp - lol! no....just no. @ Jean - she's up there. like top 5 but she's never been given an ongoing and she's been dead for years... @ Stomr - same as Jean, minus the dead part. @ Rogue - you're right about Rogue actually. i'd say she's #1 right now. X-men Legacy has basically been her ongoing for years. @ Widow - she's up there now too due to her last ongoing and the sucess of the Avengers movie. @ Mystique in X-men - i agree. and i agree again on jennifer lawrence. but i don't blame her, it was the writers/directors fault for coming up with that script.

Doom has been in FF since day 1. He was part of the whole FF storyline by Hickman recently, which I didn't read and I am not up to date with, so I'm sorry. I might get the trades to Hickman's FF run. Doom had slightly important matters with reed and sue's daughter valeria, who he named, and he faced Celestials. Sorry, valeria never outsmarted Doom. Only Reed has, and bruce banner in that stupid Fall of the Hulks arc few years ago. It doesn't matter if Doom never had an actual ongoing! Who cares about this? Doom had some strong mini series. Ed Brubaker did a very good one several years ago. villains never get an ongoing, and wasn't mystique's title 20 issues long? It looked boring anyways. Never read it. Brian K Vaughan did that series right? How was his stories with mystique? Mystique isn't a pure cut villain too. She has been with the Xmen also, and was part of X-factor if I recall- albeit for a short period in mid 1990s. Her time with freedom force showed that she isn't always an evil bitch. She can be as grey as Dr.Doom as a character. Doom has done so much more to marvel earth, and was part of major sagas that Raven wouldn't be caught dead in. Secret Wars, Infinity Gauntlet & Infinity War. Onslaught. FF stories like Doom Quest. He even has a direct influence on time travel, forming the road for future conquerors like Kang to pave way for dominion of earth. @ your comment about Mystique being most recognizable in marvel? That is so wrong it's not even funny. I can name a few female characters right off the bat more famous than mystique: Mary Jane, Gwen Stacy, Jean Grey, Storm, Rogue, Black Widow, Invisible Woman, Psylocke, Scarlet Witch and Wasp. I mean...cmon man! You know more than this. How can you even presume to think mystique is more known, just becsase of some poor FOX produced Xmen films and rebecca romjin's naked blue painted body!? All these are far more known than mystique. Who really gives a damn about ongoing series, which mean nothing anymore in terms of popularity. The Xmen movies portrayal of mystique was just bad. Even in Xmen 2. Even in the best Xmen movie made, last year's Xmen first class, the least interesting characer to me in the film was young mystique. She was played by a good actress in jennifer lawrence(Katniss of the Hunger Games- has a lot of movies in her belt now), but she didn't do anything special with that role. She just made the character more annoying to me than she was. My favorite mystique was in the 80s and 90s.

@ Mysique being irrelavent - how? she's in UXF and she'll most likely pop up again in the event. wheres Doom at btw? haven't heard from him in a while. still gettin outsmarted by Reed Richards and his little girl? @ insulting Mystique in general - Raven's probabbly the most recgonizable female character in all of marvel. she's been in like what? 4 different movies now? how many has doom been in? she's also been able to carry her own ongoing, with A list writers. an ongoing that made it 24 issues, which is extremely sucessful considering she's a female and villain on top of that.. so please, tell me. how far did Dooms last ongoing make it? hell, has he ever even been given an ongoing series?
