I thought it was a very solid issue. I have never had a problem with Romita Jr and I love Remender most always.
It was nice to see an origin story with Steve Rogers and his inspiration to never give in..his mother. Cliche! yeah, but I dig it. The other things I liked about this so far is the deep and legitimate ( as in not hinting and avoiding it altogether) is the relationship between Sharon and Steve... She wants marriage to Steve, while accepting the Cap, and he is actually pondering it. Also I liked how they incorporate his age as into the story with his birthday. Sure he is from WW2 and infused with the Super Soldier Serum bit he IS actually 90 years old so I thought that was cool.
From the part where his hands become auto cuffed to the last page, I thought the story was really exciting. I love the dynamics and the attitides of the villains. I think they were incorporated quite nicely. They have a feel to them not usually in Cap. Dimension Z is is am extremely well drawn and designed location..love it.
My Captain America reading only really began since Civil War so I am not too knowledgable about all his rogues gallery but this Arnim Zola is a very fun and interesting fellow. Looks like Man-E-Faces from He-Man. I wonder is Zola purposely told his daughter Cap killed her baby brother to set up future conflict or if he genuinely thought he did.
I loved how Cap had actually saved the little baby in his shield..at the time I did not see it coming. Really reminded me of Cable and Hope.
Great issue #1.
