Marvel announced today that they are cancelling 9 titles in October.
www.superherohype.com/news/articles/1716...The titles are:
Fantastic Four
FF
Captain America
Mighty Thor
Invincible Iron Man
Incredible Hulk
New Mutants
Uncanny X-Men
X-Men Legacy
I buy them all so I'm pretty upset. I had a look most are selling between 40,000 - 70,000.
No more Fantastic Four - It was getting good just recently
I'm pretty ambivalent about the Avenger titles, but I am surprised they are cancelled. I wish they would cancel the Red Hulk and I think there is another copy of Captain America
X-Titles - I know there are a lot of X-titles, but still a surprise. New Mutants was one of my favorite titles and it continues to piss me off that they keep cancelling it.
I understand that they are relaunching Marvel (at least 22 titles) and I understand that there have been complaints that there have been too many similar titles so you can argue Marvel is responding to the fans, but I see that the new universe is going to be shaped by Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson one).
God I hope they are not going turn everything into the Ultimate Marvel Universe, I don't think it is very good. I remember the last time they introduced the "New Universe" Star Brand, Spitfire, Kickers, Merc, Strikeforce Morituiri, etc. Most of it sucked and nobody brought it. If it is that standard it will be "No More Marvel".
I hope the writing and art is better than the current comic level. Any other thoughts?
