It will be sad if we don't hear about Rider. However it would be sick tho if Sam is the son of Garthan Saal.

Yeah, I don't get how they brought them back without explaining it, yet Rider is still nowhere to be found and it's as if he's dead. Can't wait to see what unfolds in Feb.

Well I guess we'll see. But the more I hear about it, the more I read about it.. The more it seems like they're just going to ignore the fact that Richard Rider is gone and that the Novaforce is trapped with him. Maybe they'll explain.. But I kinda doubt they will. I'm starting to think it's possible that Sam is the son of Garthan Saal though.

Who knows.. We can only speculate. I really do wish they had just brought back Rich.. Especially since apparently Thanos and Star Lord got out somehow.. (although they haven't specified if this Star Lord is Peter Quil or not).. SO I don't know. Maybe they'll tie it in somehow.. For all we know, Richard Rider could be pulled into the Gaurdians of the Galaxy series.. Which would be pretty awesome.. Would love for him to have his own series, but whatever.. We'll see what happens in Feb!

I'm starting to seriously think this is how it's going down.. because lets review what HAS been revealed so far.

Exhibit A.) Dark Pheonix hinted that Sam isn't supposed to be in this universe.. And we also know from the Thanos Imperitive that not all the characters from the cancerverse are inherently evil (I.E. cancerverse Wanda/Vision).

Exhibit B.) They're doing a new Gaurdians of the Galaxy run. Pretty sure that's Peter Quill on the cover. And I read in an interview that Marvel has plans for Thanos (I would site the article but I can't remember where I saw it)..

If Star-Lord and Thanos can get out.. Yeah.. Would be pretty silly for Richard Rider not to be able to get out as well..

Exhibit C.) Richard had the last of the Nova Force in him when he went in. Soo even if Sam being from the Cancerverse theory isn't really whats going on, then that still wouldn't explain how Sam has the powers.. The only possible way that Sam has the powers and Rich is dead, is that Sam IS from the Cancerverse and has his own Cancerverse worldmind.

Either way.. I feel a little more optimisitc than I did a few days/weeks/months ago.

Our optimism is our only hope. I agree with all your possibilities. From all the evidence, anything is possible. However we can only hope until February.

In regards to Exhibit C, in the recent comics with Rich, whenever he would give some of the Nova Force to others, their helmet would be yellow just like his. Sam's helmet isn't yellow. It's the same color as Saal's. I think they are linked.

However we are talking about the Cancerverse. Maybe Sam comes from the Cancerverse's Nova Corps.

Funny you should mention that. I was JUST thinking about that today. Is it possible that Sam is the Cancerverse Nova? Remember in AvsX, Dark Pheonix says "I see your fear. I see your secrect. You don't belong here, do you?" to Sam Alexander.. Hmmm

I wonder if that's what he meant?

Haha, well great minds think alike.

Yeah, same here. From all the clues we have now, hopefully we are obviouly right! An if that's a lead in/seed planting to "What happened to Rider?!?" then Loeb has created a pretty epic introduction for Sam Alexsander. Because look, if your 1st appenerce in a comic follows with the Phoenix Force coming to Earth and having the X-Men fight the Avengers, then that's pretty epic.

I’m a HUGE Richard Rider fan! Rider is my #1 favorite Marvel character and I don’t have a problem with Sam Alexander at all. I really do hope he becomes the sidekick to Rich cuz that would be perfect.

Also, I just realized that Sam's Nova Corps uniform looks just like Garthan Saal’s. When the new Nova (Sam) issues come out next year, I have a feeling we will see the return of Richard Rider and Garthan Saal.

In AVX they said, Sam was from another universe. Knowing that Jeph Loeb created Sam out of the honor of his son (who sadly passed away from Cancer), I won't be surprised if he is from the Cancerverse. That would be brilliantly out of symbolism and if I'm right, Sam is an awesome character to have a part of the Marvel Universe.

Also, if he is from the Cancerverse, we can get an explanation of "WHERE IS RICHARD RIDER?!?!" I'd love to see Saal make a return as an antagonist. After his recent appearance, he went magically off the map with no mention as to what he did with Malik Tarcel. They planted a seed that never grew. Hopefully the new Nova issues next year will be that tree! Can't wait!!

If the new nova is like Ultimate Spider-man, then why should I care? You see, I was never interested in Ult spidey, even if it is peter parker written by Bendis since, what year? 2000? I hear Ult spider-man was a solid series, better than the new one now, but I just never felt a DESIRE OR NEED to read Ult Spider-man. My spider-man is 616. I don't like Ultimate marvel, dude. Never have. Not even Millar's Ultimates are my thing. Good story and writing there, but Millar over does his stories and characters. To me the Ultimate avengers and spider-man, are the fake avengers and spider-man. Ultimate Xmen and FF are completely horrible. I can't stand those volumes. However, even if spidey is boring now in marvel U or just too exposed, he is still better than ultimate peter. You can't beat real peter parker, unless you prefer his clones like ben reilly or kaine- or prefer Venom/Flash. They are in the actual marvel U.

The new nova will not be as good or as exciting as richard rider. There is not one person who has read the late Nova series or at least read Nova tie ins from Conquest, Secret Invasion, War of Kings..and said that this guy was boring. He is a great character. He is very much like a spider-man in space, for the cosmic side. A relatable and incredibly powerful hero all at once, while bearing the burden of policing the galaxy with a super computer in his helmet. It was so well done. Good writing. Good artists. I miss that series more than most.

[Insert roaring applause] Couldn't have said it better myself. I also have zero interest in the ultimate universe.. But that's irrelevant.

I feel like Marvel purposfully keep doing what their real fans DON'T want them to do. I'm a die hard Nova fan. Been following him since I was a kid and New Warriors first came out, and then I went back and read the first series when I was in High School. I can't even begin to explain how it feels like Marvel just ripped my heart out (I'm being a little over-dramatic, but I'm pretty upset over it! lol) by replacing Nova. If they wanted to have a new guy join the Corps and hang out with Rich.. Hey, that'd be cool! I think Rich would do well to have a side kick who is young and brash like He was. I think Rich would be a great mentor.. But even then, it'd be kinda lame to make someone so cool be a baby sitter. It just feels like they took him out while he was in his prime (pun sort of intended) and I just don't understand why you'd trade a well developed badass for someone nobody cares about, just so they can reach their new demographic.

I'm not pleased, Marvel.. Not one bit.

They can salvage it though! all they have to do issss

Kick Loeb to the curb, Get Abnett and Lanning, and throw Sam in the cancerverse to rot.
