I just hope they never reach $5. $4 is bad enough!

If you want to see the evolution of sticker-shock on the indie front. Go to Radiocomix.com and check out the back issues of furrlough. There you will see the price on one title go from a steady $2.99 to a hideous current $6.99 .:p

Don't worry everyone the wake up call is about to descend upon Marvel like the Persian empire on Sparta, and the Marvel management team will fall like lambs to the slaughter and the Disney higher ups will be doing the slaughtering. Comic readers have a hard time quitting a book in a middle of a storyline and I think this has been the only reason people have continued to purchase as many 3.99 books as they have in the past year. The marvel universe for the first time in its history has just been one huge story arch crossing over in almost every book, after another. I know a lot of people including myself who have been barely scraping buy just because they love this current universe storyline that Bendis has been writing so much but holy crap is hard on our wallets especially when they don't break it up. Marvel is thinking that their readers are just willing to pay it no matter what but I think their in for a rude awakening when the siege ends. I truly believe the Heroic age will be a huge flop, I think many readers including my self will see this as a great jumping off point for many of the books they have been buying only because we simply do not have the income to continue buying comics the same way we were buying them when they were 2.50 to 2.99. I think Marvels comics volume will ether shrink or the prices will have to come down. Disney will not want to be loosing money weekly because Joe Quesadas 4$ comics aren't selling. Joe has had the second longest run in his position in the history of Marvel and I believe his time may be up unless he reacts quickly to whats coming. Ether way the Heroic age is my big jumping off point for tons of books that I buy. I also feel this Recession were in is going to turn in a full out depression, But by then it won't matter comics will the least of our worries.

Very well stated.  I've been collecting comics for about 30 years now (I'm 36) and I think inflation has finally taken it's toll on the industry.  I remember in the early to mid 80s, I could cut a few yards in the neighborhood for $10 and do some chores around the house and make a $5 weekly allowance, walk into a comic shop and buy a stack full of books (I miss those quarter bins) and still have some money left over to buy a soda, some bazooka joe bubble gum and play pac-man a few times.  Now days $50 doesn't buy nearly as much.  I don't see how this industry is going to survive.

This price increase sucks my mom just got a new pre-paid card for me and my sister (cause we r only teenagers) and i was going to go on a marvel shopping spree but i buy my subscription to amazing spider-man and find out there is going to be a price increase. I dont have a job i just got my first months allowance of $10 a month thats enough for only 2 comics a month now im not a huge fan of going to the comic book stores, mainly cause i have two comic book guys that are just like the one pictured in the simpsons except alot older and alot grumpier. So i am a ebayholic so this is defiently going to decrease my spending and you know what i am not getting any support cause i am the only one who actually enjoys comics i just hope marvel loses too much money to make a profit so they will drop those prices and some of those lame comic titles (x-babies really!?)

Yes, we've established that. And I've made that quite clear in many of my recent post, most of which you have commented on, that if I do not like it I will not buy it. That isn't the real issue here though...

Honestly I'm more concerned about how this practice may effect younger readers, or those who are not fortunate enough to have a job that pays them well enough to be able to pay their bills, and read all the books they would like to. So these people are forced to cut their subscriptions to books the love due to corporate inflation? It's really sad. I understand that when it keeps down to bare bones, Marvel is a business, it just seems they are presenting themselves more as a heartless entity these days then a company that truly cares for their very, VERY, loyal. fans.[/quote:a5c8d81630]

Well said!! Man, I don't think I could have said that better myself. I use to adore Marvel when I was nothing more than a meir pre-teen. But ever since 2008. Marvel have been giving fans a slap to face with stories fans would never a prove of and this stupid price change!! People did not like Ultimatum (except me, I loved it!!), people did not like BND stuff (except me again), people do not like the Hulked Out Heroes, and last but not least people do not like this stupid price change!!! Come on Marvel, get your head back in the game!!!

I had to drop a ton of comic book titles because of the price change. I tried to buy some of the complete tie-in issues from the Siege event. I bought the first issue of Dark Wolverine siege tie-in, the first issue of of the Avengers the Initiative tie-in, the first New Avengers tie-in, The Dark Avengers tie-in,
and the Siege Embedded issue #1 and #2. But now I had to stop buying them because I can't afford them anymore. That wouldn't have been a problem if I had bought them for $2.99 instead of $3.99!!!

It is. The guy who runs it, his father owns the building it's in so he doesn't have to pay rent. Plus, next door, where their old store use to be, is a pet store that pays them to rent the space. So I think that helps them out alot right there.

    That's good then.
