We get all kinds of awesome folks coming through Marvel HQ. Case in point, we recently had a visit from New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano.
Robinson is a big fan of Marvel's The Avengers--ask him about Tony Stark's Acura--and got a first-rate tour of our office from Arune Singh, Marvel's Director of Communications. Ben Morse and I also sat down with Robinson to record an episode of our This Week in Marvel interview podcast. "Marvel's The Avengers" will be the greatest movie ever. That is known. BUT! It's also brought about one of my favorite team-ups via this video as Robert Downey Jr. and Nathan Fillion compare their respective heroes: So. Great. The assortment of toys, action figures, swag and collectibles for Marvel's The Avengers arriving in the coming months is pretty fantastic. Hasbro, specifically, has loads of awesome stuff on the way. In particular, I'm EXTREMELY psyched that Marvel and Hasbro are releasing a Helicarrier. Even cooler for me? I get to give you the world premiere, first look, at it:
I'm going to Toy Fair NY next week with a big team of Marvelites. We're shooting video and taking photos of everything at the show, including all the mighty Avengers stuff. GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) recently announced the nominees for the 22nd Annual GLAAD Media Awards and two Marvel Comics Series made the list! For Outstanding Comic Book: AVENGERS: THE CHRILDREN'S CRUSADE by Allan Heinberg I'm psyched to see both books make the list and we'll be rooting for them, for sure. Big ups go out to not only the writers, but the editors and other creative minds behind the books who are instrumental in making comics that GLAAD feels create "outstanding images of the LGBT community."
