Lookit this rad art from Daredevil #2Paolo Rivera. DAREDEVIL #2. You better recognize. 'Nuff said. \m/ \m/ Lookit this rad Spider-Cat artYes, I said Spider-Cat. Spider-Kitty would also be appropriate. I would also accept "best thing Marvel's ever done." This is from a story written by Skottie Young with art by Dave Guertin and Greg Baldwin of CreatureBox. You can read the entire story in the upcoming SPIDER-ISLAND: I LOVE NEW YORK CITY #1. Senior Editor Steve Wacker sent the story my way this morning, knowing I love animals--cats, especially--and really cool art. You guys. This is terrific. I love love love it.
Pick up your copy of SPIDER-ISLAND: I LOVE NEW YORK CITY #1 in September! \m/ \m/ Behind the Scenes with Alpha Flight artist Dale EagleshamOver at daleeaglesham.com, the ALPHA FLIGHT artist has been posting some really cool behind-the-scenes art and info on the methods and proccessees that go into producing his awesome art. Here are some cover sketches for ALPHA FLIGHT #3:
Awesome little Easter Egg discovered from the blog and these images: "all of Dale's variants have featured the upside-down maple leaf, a symbol of distress..." I didn't notice before, but yup! Check out daleeaglesham.com and @daleeaglesham on Twitter. Big thanks to Louise Stephenson for her help with this! \m/ \m/ Marvel vs. Capcom MinimatesOoooh! Well...sorta. It's Deadpool's version of their history and...a bit off. Here, watch the episode:
Our "What The--?!" episodes are always packed with great little Easter Eggs and quick surprises, and I wanted to give a bit more spotlight to a few from this episode. Here are some mock album and book covers created by Alex Kropinak and Alejandro Arbona for this episode:
My favorite is "A Hard Days of Future Past's Night," but "Jean!" is close. \m/ \m/ The X-Man-MachineMy pal Nicole at Mighty Fine Tees likes to keep me updated with all the rad Marvel t-shirts they're putting out. It also drives me nuts, as I'm a big t-shirt nerd/sorta collector and I want ALL OF THEM. I have about 5 or 6 Mighty Fine shirts, but they just started doing an insanely cool line of '80s-style homage image X-Men character tees that I just ADORE! And then, today, they released this gem, "X-Men Werk": It's a riff on the classic Kraftwerk album cover "The Man-Machine." Kudos, Mighty Fine. You win again. You can buy the shirt now from welovefine.com for $25. \m/ \m/ [Edited By Moderator] Vote in the Toys "R" Us Minimates PollThe folks at Diamond Select Toys, Art Asylum and Toys "R" Us need your help in picking TRU's 2011 exclusive Minimates box set! Kristen Schaal Visits Marvel ComicsI went to see "The Daily Show" a few months back and Kristen Schaal was part of the show that night. I'd seen her in "Flight of the Conchords," but really became a fan after seeing her on previous episodes of "The Daily Show." And when we saw her live, she was just as terrific as usual. And then the wife and I started watching "Bob's Burgers," an animated series in which she pretty much steals every episode. So, anyway, after seeing Kristen live at the taping of "The Daily Show," I reached out to see if she was a Marvel fan and if she wanted to visit. Duh! She was so into it! It took a lot of scheduling and synching up with our respective timestreams, but we were able to host Kristen at Marvel HQ and we all had a blast. Here are some photos (taken by Judy Stephens) from her visit. Oh, and follow Kristen on Twitter - @kristenschaaled and keep your eyes peeled to our web video series "The Watcher" for Kristen's cameo! Above: Kristen and I in front of the big Avengers mural at Marvel HQ. She wields Beta Ray Bill's hammer Stormbreaker! Above: Spidey and Kristen, funnin' around! Above: Editor Alejandro Arbona shows Kristen how comics are made, from script to final product. Also, Tom Brennan is there. Above: Kristen and senior editor Stephen Wacker. Please note the light-up Xanadu sign on the right. Above: Kristen and collections editor Jen Grunwald. Above: Kristen, with Stormbreaker, in front of the big Avengers mural. Kristen knew lots about the X-Men, Wolverine, Spider-Man and other Marvel characters before visiting--she's a fan--but she learned a ton about Ms. Marvel during her trip to Marvel HQ. Above: Editor Tom Brennan and Kristen, who's checking out one of the many comics she snagged during her visit. Above: Kristen and a stack of Stephen King's The Dark Tower comics. Above: Editor Jeanine Schaefer and Kristen, with a copy of GIRL COMICS. (GIRL COMICS is so good, guys.) Above: Kristen and editor Daniel Ketchum talkin' about comics! Above: Kristen and Grace Randolph, host of "The Watcher" in our green screen room at Marvel HQ. Above: Kristen and Stormbreaker in front of the Avengers mural. Above: Kristen and Agent M. Why am I making that silly face? I have no idea. She shoulda hit me with Stormbreaker. But she wouldn't, she's way too nice! \m/ \m/ [Edited By Moderator] Lookit this rad Marvel art on Extreme Makeover Home EditionThe folks in our Marvel Custom Solutions division (they're like Heroes for Hire, but they make comics) were tasked with helping out on a very super heroic episode of the TV program Extreme Makeover Home Edition.
