Marvel and GetGlue Update

December 13, 2012 | 6:03 PM | By Agent_M | In General

It was a year or two ago when I first heard about GetGlue. It was described as a Foursquare for media...check-in to books, movies, video games, etc. And get real stickers to stick on real things. Super cool! We got linked up with GetGlue to create stickers for our comics, while Marvel Studios worked to get cool stickers made for our films. It's always been very cool working with them.

Unfortunately, with the recent phasing out of books from the GetGlue experience, Marvel will no longer be hosting the weekly GetGlue blog post focused on Marvel Comics stickers. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news on that front, but stay tuned for exclusive GetGlue stickers dedicated to Marvel television and films with GetGlue HD, a next-gen entertainment guide.

You know, the comics functionality is still present on the website, but this is disappointing news. Ugh, GetGlue... 'disappoint' I actually uninstalled the app after they removed the book functionality, and was still checking in (even last week) and suggestion new comics (Avengers Arena.) Now I've read this, all makes sense.

Fully support and endorse Marvel's decision - and as a compromise may be awesome if there was some similar "I've Read" functionality in the App or on Marvel.com. Really got into and loved seeing how many people were also checking in on Comic Book Wednesdays and join those conversations.

@daigojigai Yup, We"ve kicked around some ideas about checking in and whatnot through our apps and services. No idea if it's fully feasible. But we'll see!

GetGlue, just another in a long line of sites taking something that works just fine, and ruining it.

marvel should bring super boy prime to the marvel universe. dc does not know how to use him. dc does not no how much power he could bring to the marvel universe the x-men could help him. join them and bring him easy and be a great. If dc universe and the marvel universe meet and dc see super boy prime with real friends it would be something maybe

Maybe re imaging the old character of Shamrock and Crusader both as younger mutants who are involved surely we have had enough of.. "I am crazy and therefore my super powers are even cooler" or the old.. "I have multiple personalities so of course I relate to everyone and ...besides ...I am fun!" I am more than positive the old power mimic/power stealer/power copier shtick has run its course seeing as everyone is either a mimic or mentally disordered these days. Marvel has already established a beach head in its amazing coverage of people and social diversity causes.. still some more fleshing out I think would be readable and groundbreaking . Touch of the familiar with a N.Y. born Irish over-achieving sport jock with maybe a sports broadcast job . Meeting up with a Boston born community organizer who has discovered some revelations about himself and his abilities and is intent on being a heroic force. He develops a few friends along the way ...a re imagined Willow O' the Wisp and Threnody who have been drawn together romantically and are themselves attempting to become heroes for the greater good . The angles of heroism and redemption... the trials of helping the people around them and even a few religious and social backdrop issues are all in play maybe Shamrock as blended Domino and Matt Murdock ,Luke Cage and the Crusader re imagined as a blended Empath and Devilslayer, Magik type. That allows for one to use Probability Powers in ways no one has in the M.U. as both a protective defense and as a sensory ability not tied specifically to precognition as well as still being scalable for fights that need not be galactic in nature. The Crusader is now a empathicly empowered fighter with possible tools and weapons that were trademark to the character and allows for exploration into that magic/faith line marvel never seems to bring into focus. The Willow and Threnody could certainly draw some interest make him a little younger and allow him to be a little more otherworldly re imagining his origin as being a property of being a mutant perhaps a mutant with a bit more X in his genome. Bringing in some more of the lore of the mythical Willow O' the Wisp... giving him a footing in the semi mystical making him a natural with Threnody .Who has needed an update and a home for sometime where we have Crusader as an empowering empath ,giving him strength and physical abilities her powers of empathy grant her energy and mental abilities. .
Marvel has very few heroes that are as interesting as these four
......what do you think marvel?

Shamrock as a male hero linked with crusader would be a twist marvel inc has yet try.
