Show Notes: The Watcher, Episode 2

December 10, 2010 | 9:53 PM | By Agent_M | In General

For each episode of The Watcher, I want to provide links, behind-the-scenes info and other fun tidbits. Thankfully, I have host Grace Randolph to help me put this together and we'll try to get this to you guys every week.

First, the video in case you haven't seen it yet:

-Deadpool really is on Twitter. He got about 1,000 followers in one day. Nice! Follow @RealDeadpool now!

-The Love-In section is a companion piece to our Archrivals: Captain America and HYRDA article. Grace made up what HYDRA stands for in the video and we were lucky it worked out so perfectly.

-In the section with Santa's elf, those are Marvel VP John Cerilli's collections we gave to the elf. The elf? That's one of my interns--Ron. See? Interning for Marvel.com can get you into videos! Also, it was super cold in NYC when they filmed that bit outside Marvel HQ.

-Grace came up with idea for the Creator Spotlight section and I loved the idea. Our first subject is writer Jason Aaron. I emailed Jason about doing the section on his work and he added:

"Yeah, I broke in as a talent search winner. Back in the summer of 2001 I just typed up an idea for an 8 page Wolverine story and dropped it in a big box full of submissions at the Wizard World Chicago con. It was sometime the next year when I had a message on my phone from Mike Marts, who was the Wolvie editor at the time. The message just said, This is Mike Marts from Marvel, give me a call, and for some reason my first thought was, how cruel of him to call just to tell me I didn't win. Shows you what an optimist I am I guess. But turns out I did win. I think Mike said mine was one of the only submissions that didn't take place in a bar, so that gave me a leg up. And my first comic work was in the pages of WOLVERINE #175 in 2002. Now here I am, all these years later, still writing WOLVERINE. I never would've guessed it." For anyone trying to break into comics--don't give up, don't lose hope, don't stop.

This week's Tricerastack picks:
AVENGERS ACADEMY #7
AVENGERS #8
THUNDERBOLTS #151

Last week's Graphic Debate poll had thousands of votes and when we filmed, Spider-Man had very narrowly beaten Wolverine. BUT, the poll remained open for a bit and Wolvie supporters pushed the Canucklehead over the top!

-In case you missed it, here's a little something called the "Thor" movie trailer! Enjoy!
